What are the differences between Teflon sheets and polytetrafluoroethylene?
Date:2026-03-21 12:00:00 Author:Zhejiang LifuJin Sealing Components Co., Ltd.

There is no fundamental difference between Teflon sheet and polytetrafluoroethylene. The Teflon sheet is the abbreviation for polytetrafluoroethylene sheet, and both refer to the same type of material, with only minor differences in the usage scenarios of the terms. Here is the detailed explanation:

The Teflon sheet is a common term within the industry, and its official name is polytetrafluoroethylene sheet (Polytetrafluoroethylene Sheet, abbreviated as PTFE sheet). This material is made from pure polytetrafluoroethylene resin and is processed through methods such as molding and turning. It has properties such as resistance to high and low temperatures (-196°C to 260°C), resistance to strong acid and alkali corrosion, low friction coefficient (0.04), non-stickiness, and excellent electrical insulation performance. Its tensile strength exceeds 15 MPa, the surface tension is the lowest among solid materials, and it has weather resistance and biological inertness.

In terms of application fields, the Teflon sheet and polytetrafluoroethylene sheet are exactly the same, widely used in scenarios such as chemical equipment anti-corrosion linings, mechanical guide rail lubrication, electronic insulation components, food industry anti-stick parts, and building earthquake-resistant buffer materials. Some products, after obtaining food grade certification, can be customized with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 40 mm and maximum widths of 2.8 meters, to meet different industrial needs.
