The application of fluoroplastic compensators in sewage treatment pipelines?
Date:2026-03-21 12:00:00 Author:Zhejiang LifuJin Sealing Components Co., Ltd.

The application of fluorine-tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) compensators in sewage treatment pipelines is as follows:

1.Corrosion resistance ensures the long-term stable operation of the pipeline.

The PTFE compensator is made of PTFE as the core material, which has extremely strong chemical stability and can withstand corrosive media such as strong acids, strong bases, organic solvents, and chlorine disinfectants in sewage. In sewage treatment pipelines, the inner PTFE layer can effectively isolate corrosive substances and prevent the pipeline body from being eroded, thereby extending the equipment's service life and reducing the risk of leakage caused by corrosion.

2. Compensation for thermal expansion and contraction and installation deviations, reducing stress concentration.

Sewage treatment pipelines often experience thermal expansion and contraction due to temperature changes (such as seasonal temperature differences or process heat sources), or pipeline misalignment due to installation errors. The PTFE compensator absorbs axial, lateral, and angular displacements through a corrugated tube structure, alleviating pipeline stress and avoiding cracking or deformation caused by stress concentration. For example, in long-distance transportation pipelines, compensators can be set in segments to distribute thermal expansion forces, ensuring system safety.

3. Vibration reduction and noise reduction, improving system stability.

 Sewage treatment equipment (such as pumps and blowers) generates vibration during operation. If directly transmitted to the pipeline, it may cause interface loosening or weld fatigue. The PTFE compensator, as a flexible connection component, can isolate the vibration source and reduce mechanical impact on the pipeline. Its low friction coefficient characteristic can also reduce fluid resistance and optimize the flow state, further reducing vibration and noise.

4. Adapt to complex conditions and meet diverse needs.

The PTFE compensator can be customized in structural types according to sewage components, temperatures, and pressures:

Steel-lined type: The outer layer is stainless steel, and the inner layer is PTFE, providing both metal strength and corrosion resistance, suitable for high-pressure or large-diameter pipelines;

Sprayed type: Enhanced wear resistance through fluorine material spraying, suitable for sewage containing solid particles;

Rubber composite type: The outer layer is rubber, providing elasticity, and the inner layer is PTFE for corrosion protection, used in low-temperature or vibration-prone scenarios.

For example, in anaerobic treatment pipelines containing hydrogen sulfide, steel-lined PTFE compensators can prevent hydrogen embrittlement and ensure long-term sealing.

PTFE material is non-toxic and harmless, meeting food-grade hygiene standards, and will not release harmful substances to pollute water bodies during sewage treatment. Its aging resistance (able to be used for a long time at -50°C to 150°C) reduces the frequency of replacement, lowers maintenance costs and resource consumption, and meets the dual demands of modern industry for environmental protection and economy.
